Jumpingpound Mountain is a beautiful green peak that is easy to hike up. When you have little time or just need to get out for a view and there’s too much snow further west, this peak is a great option.
Road access is via Powderface Trail and is seasonal. Call the Alberta Government toll free at 310-0000 (I don’t know if this works outside of Alberta) and ask for the Kananaskis Office.
Nothing out of the ordinary happened on this particular day. That’s good though. I think the day fit the mountain. Gentle and green is the summit, and so when I got there, I had a nice break and drank in the expansive views of forest and valley. Content to just sit back, eat lunch and identify peaks, I had little reason to think, just relax and enjoy the peace.
Occasionally you may see a mountain biker riding the trail that traverses the lower flanks of the mountain. Be tolerant and share the trail.
The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good. Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom.
